Der Schock - The shock

Hallo & Welcome back.

In London gibts da kein Problem.

It is just AMAZING.

To be honest, I knew I'd be disappointed again after going back to Austria from my vacations in GB. But I didn't expect the time passing so fast? I was only back for like an (1) hour and again very disappointed in this state and country itself; or whatever.

Right after, I wanted to grab some food before I had to go to to an appointment.
The 'Schnitzelwelt' in Feldkirchen was an offer.
Obstacle Nr. 1: the parking spots were way too small.
Obstacle Nr. 2: there was a car parking on the ramp (yes somebody has parked the car on the wheelchair ramp!)
Obstacle Nr. 3: there was also a billboard standing on the ramp
Obstacle Nr. 4: there wasn't even an elevator that could take me up to the restaurant.

Now I wasn't even hungry anymore.
And the woman's excuse that parked her car on the ramp was: "I just had to unload the car very quick." - everything they do is always "very quick" or "just a sec" - please take a minute to think about the people who really need a ramp like this. I mean, they didn't put it out there for nothing.

But what I don't get is: Don't we live in a social state? Shouldn't the people be like social + friendly + helpful? Shouldn't most places be available for hanicapped people as well?

I do think the whole support that we get from the state is great and I'm really grateful. But money won't buy us happiness.
People wanna go out as well, but the problem is: you have to think more than twice where you actually go. You can't just walk out and go to all places with a wheelchair. And that's what I find really sad.
I had no problems in London for example. You just go outside and if you get stuck somewhere people are ready to help each other und you don't have to think twice at all!

Now a lot of you will be saying: Then go to London if you think it's better!
Trust me, if it were that easy, I totally would!!!

What I want to say with this blog post is that not just Austria itself but also the people in this country should really take London and LA as an example. The accessibility is great. The cooperativeness is great. It's just AMAZING.
'Key & now I'm done! Next week I'll be posting something about my trip to London :)

And before I forget: BIG THANKS to my friend Zalona who's actually a fashion-blogger and she helped me with writing/translating this blogpost because I had literally no time for translating it.
So do me a favor & check out her blog & if you like it follow her :D

Studieren mit Behinderung (Teil 1) - Universitylife

Hallo & Welcome Back.

Gut.

Ein bisschen was eingekauft hab ich auch schon: also Bettwäsche UND einen Lattenrost. Einen elektrischen versteht sich. Was das kostet!

Also die Übergänge.

Okey I'm not even sure if Universitylife is a word but I wanted my english speaking reader to know what I'm talking about today. And I guess you understand me :D

And I also called it "Teil 1", which means "Part 1", because I think that there will be more to write about when University started.

I'm not going to university yet, but the prearrangements are running. Not only for studying, but also for moving.
Some things are still getting prepared for a better self-dependence in the dorm where I'm living while I'm studying in the city.
I already finished arranging my timetable and found out if every lecture hall is accessible with the wheelchair.
Good.

Then I went shopping and bought bedclothes AND a duckboard; naturally an electric duckboard. It was expensive! I still need some things like dishes. But that's okey.

There's still another problem: the sidewalk. Because I sometimes can't cross the street because the sidewalk isn't wheelchair accessible. So I guess I gotta make a little test where I can/can't drive.
(I'll probably do this already before posting this so you'll still read about it here)
Update: A view sidewalks have to be reconditioned so that it's easier for everyone.
But I can at least reach the university :)

And then there is the problem with the assistance; the personal one and the one for university.
I have some assistant(s?) but not enough.
But I guess I'll still find some in the first month of universitylife.
During the first time I'll still call my mom sometimes; I guess
But now I have to arrange the first two weeks: when I need some help and when not. We'll see.
I'm sooo excited but also nervous!
