Schnee; und jetzt? - Snow; what to do now?

Hallo & Welcome back.

I do have many ideas for new blogposts right now. But today I would like to write about an actual topic.
If you are reading my blog already for some time you may know, that I do love summertime. But right now it is wintertime!
And if it is wintertime it is clear that snow will fall - unfortunately *ahahah*.

The first snow already fell last tuesday - but it was just a little bit and I was happy about it because it was Lychee's first snow and it wasn't a lot so that I could go out with her.
Then on Friday the snow came back to Klagenfurt - but this time for real. I was lucky because I had my assistance with me the whole day and so someone could make the walks with Lychee.
And one of my neighbours is also going for walks with Lychee if I can not do it - I am so lucky to have so many nice people around me!
Well, I could just follow them to the main entrance - because there is still a roof which protected me from all the snow. And I really wanted to see how Lychee likes the snow.
And I have to admit: I could have gone for walks in our courtyard - at least with my electronical wheelchair. BUT I did not do so because then I would have brought all the water into my apartement.

Then on Saturday - when no snow was falling anymore - I wanted to go to the lake with Lychee; just for a long walk in the sun. Unfortunately no bus stop was free from snow. And also the passings from one sidewalk to the other was not free from snow. And some sidewalks have not been clean at all!

This is something that makes me unhappy. Not only because I would love to make long walks with my dog, but also because I am somehow now closed into my courtyard until the snow is gone! And well, as far as I know some more snow should come..
Furthermore I really have to go to university again - I am not sure how this is going to work!
Whoever should have been cleaning all the sidewalks and the bus stops - please do it! I do not see any excuse as even the courtyard of private apartements is free from snow - in this case I would like to say: THANK YOU :)

#yourstory: Ausgehen - Celebrating

Hallo & Welcome back.

Jennifer is disabled and is using a wheelchair. On New Year's Eve she and her friends decided spontaneously, that they would check out a new bar which just opened. Usually they are always going to bars where they only find people whom are under 18 years old. And the girls are both students.

Apart from the fact that it was very full and the people lined up behind each other, and sometimes people tripped over Jennifer and her wheelchair or dumped some drinks over her the student was a little bit scared because there was no elevator and the bar was not accessible at all. And in addition to that the people only starred at her instead of helping her!

When the student was at the bar, she's been surrounded by man which were way older than her and they always invited her only because she is going out eventhough she is using a wheelchair.
For Jennifer this was actually rather insulting, especially because she sees it normal that she is going out just as every other student is; eventhough she is using a wheelchair.

Jennifer finds it very difficult to try out new places when you are using a wheelchair - in this case the new place was this bar. Furthermore many man did not see her only as a woman, but as a helpless woman!
The student is not only disappointed because again a place was not accessible for wheelchair-users, but also because she thinks that it is impossible to meet someone when you use a wheelchair because everybody is just inviting you for a drink because you are disabled.

Well, I as a student do know this kind of situation. Unfortunately our society and especialle man still do not see that woman in a wheelchair are also just normal woman!

Smartphone aus - Phone off

Hallo & Welcome back.

Doch was könnt ihr stattdessen tun?

This has nothing to do with accessibility, but I do feel like that especially disabled people sometimes need more rest because their energy is used up faster.

During the holidays or even now during my free-time from university I tried to logg off. That also meant, that I logged off some social networks and I left my smartphone at home when I went out.

Unfortunately the Smartphone is already used a lot during our daily-life. I even have two of them because I seperate my Job and private life.
Nowadays I do feel like it is really important to logg off sometimes. Because even if you do not feel the aftermath now, I do feel it.
I personally get headache from being online everytime.

Be careful with your body, it is the only one you have!

But what could you do without your Smartphone? - Meet your friends; especially those you do not see so often and usually only chat with (via Facebook or other social networks).
Go out for a walk - you do not need a dog for that.
Make a game-night with your friends and/or family!
Or go out once; just drink something or eat something. You do not need to party the whole night.
