Rollifahreridealbild - The ideal

Das Thema welches ich heute ansprechen will beschäftigt mich seit einiger Zeit. Ich werd immer wieder komisch angeschaut weil ich im Rollstuhl sitze, Tattoos habe, gepierct bin und manchmal mit Freunden Alkohol trinke.
Aber eigentlich versteh ich nicht ganz, warum viele das so komisch finden; immerhin bin ich 19 Jahre jung. Piercings sind da ja schon Alltag und Tattoos auch fast. Auch ein Glasal guter Wein oder sonst was ist etwas ganz normales in diesem Alter. ABER NICHT wenn man im Rollstuhl sitzt!

Zumindest wird einem das von vielen in unserer Gesellschaft vermittelt.
Aber ich bin nicht die einzige Rollifahrerin mit Tattoos - hab hier auf der Reha auch noch eine andere kennengelernt.
Aber eigentlich möchte ich nur mal klären, warum das für die Gesellschaft so komisch ist.
Das Problem ist, dass es diverse Werbungen mit Spendenaufrufen gibt wo Rollstuhlfahrer meist so dargestellt werden: Sie wohnen in einem Heim. Können so gut wie nichts alleine machen. Deshalb braucht man Geld um sie zu versorgen. Sie können sich nämlich nicht alleine verständigen. Deshalb spricht auch in dieser Werbung jemand anderes für sie. Und lachen können sie sowieso nicht.

Ja ich weiß das klingt nun krass. Aber es gibt wirklich so eine Werbung. Wird auch jährlich noch "verbessert". Ich werde die Institution hier nicht nennen welche solche Werbungen machen. Finde es jedoch sehr schade, dass in Zeiten von Inklusion so etwas noch erlaubt ist.
Ganz viele Rollstuhlfahrer können sehr wohl zu Hause wohnen auch wenn sie nichts alleine machen können und vielleicht nicht einmal reden können. Immer mehr Familien versuchen diejenigen die mehr Hilfe brauchen länger in ihrer gewohnten Umgebung zu behalten, weil sie sich dort meistens auch wohler fühlen. 

Deshalb reicht es langsam auch, mit den komischen Blicken.
Genauso wenig möchte ich nicht mehr bei irgendwelchen Festen gefragt werden, warum ich denn ein Glas Wein trinke. Ich bin 19 Jahre alt. Studentin. Habe das Recht genauso zu leben wie alle anderen in meinem Alter es auch tun.
Und alle anderen Rollstuhlfahrer und Rollstuhlfahrerinnen haben ebenfalls diese Rechte ihr Leben so zu leben, wie es die anderen auch tun.
Und selbst wenn sie nicht im Rollstuhl sitzen, sondern eine andere Beeinträchtigung haben: LASST SIE IHR LEBEN GENIEßEN !


It has been a few weeks ago when I went to the city mall to do some shopping when I saw the eyes of the others on me, on my tattoos, on my piercings and then going down to my wheelchair. But why is it like that - that's what I asked myself since then.
I talked to a view people about it and found something what could be the reason.
I am 19; I am inked just like some few others in my age are and I am pierced like nearly everybody else is. And yes, I sometimes go out and drink some alcohol, but this is normal for a nineTEEN year old girl - BUT NOT if you are sitting in a wheelchair. 

Well, I am not the only girl in a wheelchair who is inked. Saw a lot of other wheelchair-users here in the rehabilitation centre who are inked too!
However we have got one problem. There are a few advertisements out there which show wheelchair-users like that: They live in an asylum. They can't barely do anything on their own. That's why they need money for taking care of them. And they can not talk on their own. That is why someone else is talking for them during the advertisement. And they - of course - can not laugh.

Yes I know that this sounds harsh. But we have those kinds of advertisements here in Austria even though everyone is talking about inclusion.
However I know that so many families try to keep their handicapped family members at home as long as they can because it is better for them.
And so many people can go to school even though they can not talk. There are so many inventions out there which help handicapped people.

And I am sick of those eyes on me only because I go out, because I am inked, because I got pierced, and because I am in a wheelchair and can laugh.
I and everybody else has the right to live however they want too - doesn't matter if they are handicapped or not.
