Leserbrief über das Theater - My opinion letter about the theater (Tägliche Situationen mit einem Rollstuhl)

Hier ein Interview von mir in der Kleinen Zeitung.
Weil ich selbst Leserin bin.

Ich hatte SCHON WIEDER ein Problem mit dem Stadttheater Klagenfurt. Ich glaube ihr könnt euch noch an diesen Blogpost erinnern wenn euch das bekannt vorkommt.
Das heißt auch, dass ihr schon ziemlich lange ein Leser meines Blog seits. Danke dafür :D

Ich veröffentliche hier nicht den Leserbrief den ihr in der Zeitung (Kleine Zeitung von 14.11.2014) findet, sondern das Original.
Das heißt, dass jener in der Zeitung ein wenig gekürzt wurde und einen anderen Titel bekommen hat. Ich bin aber sehr zufrieden!

Das Theater im Theater

Wenn man als Student ins Theater gehen will und die ÖH wiedermal ein Angebot für eine bestimmte Aufführung hat muss man die vergünstigten Karten nur noch kaufen.

Denkst du! Wenn du beeinträchtigt bist und im Rollstuhl sitzt musst du halb Klagenfurt um Hilfe bitten um diese Karten zum selben Preis zu bekommen wie alle anderen.

Ehrlich gesagt kam es mir vor wie ein Déjà-vu als ich beim Stadttheater angerufen habe und die mir einen Preis genannt haben der mehr als dreimal so hoch war wie der für andere Studenten. Denn das gleiche Thema hatten wir im April 2014 schon einmal, damals war ich noch Schülerin.
Aber warum ist das so? Das Problem ist, dass man sich als „Fußgänger“ aussuchen kann wo man sitzt. Und die Karten der ÖH, sie kosten 8€, beziehen sich auf die Plätze der Galerie. Diese sind für Rollstuhlfahrer jedoch unerreichbar! Und so findet man die Rollstuhlplätze in der teuersten Kategorie des Stadttheaters wieder. Es gibt bei bestimmten Aufführungen also Studentenpreise aber nicht für Studenten im Rollstuhl.

Ich habe, wie schon vor einigen Monaten verschieden Leute kontaktiert und um Hilfe gebeten. Darunter auch den Präsidenten des Österreichischen Zivil-Invalidenverbands Kärnten, Herrn Rudolf Kravanja. Dieser setzte sich natürlich für mich ein, telefonierte mit der Kartenkasse des Stadttheaters Klagenfurt und bekam einen Preis von 14,75€ pro Karte genannt. Ich hingegen habe nur zwei Tage zuvor einen Preis von 29,50€ genannt bekommen!

Die Karten bei der ÖH kosten für diese eine Aufführung aber nur 8€. Wir sind nun zu dem Ergebnis gekommen, dass ich die Kosten von 6,75€ pro Karte von der ÖH rückerstattet bekomme. In Zukunft will die ÖH aber, dass die günstigen Karten auch für Menschen mit Behinderung angeboten werden.

Trotzdem gibt es noch folgende Unklarheiten beim Verhalten des Stadttheaters.

Erstens frage ich mich, warum meine Begleitperson nicht zwingend neben mich gesetzt wird. Immerhin steht in meinem Behindertenpass nicht um sonst, dass ich eine Begleitperson benötige!

Außerdem verstehe ich nicht, warum ich für meine Begleitperson im April nichts gezahlt habe und weshalb ich jetzt schon etwas für sie bezahlen muss.

Ich möchte an dieser Stelle anmerken, dass bei den meisten Veranstaltungsorten die Begleitperson nichts bezahlt sofern im Behindertenpass steht, dass man auf diese angewiesen ist. Ich denke, dass Stadttheater sollte hier eine einheitliche Lösung finden.

So what I did now was writing an opinion letter for my favourite newspaper and here you'll get to see a translation of the original I send to the newspaper.

The theater in the theater

If you'd like to go into the theater as a student you just have to buy the privileged tickets at the ÖH booth (Austrian Representation of students).
But that's ONLY what you think because it's not that easy if you are handicapped. When you sit in a wheelchair you've to ask a lot of people for help so that you get the tickets for the same price as all the other students.
It was somehow a déjà-vu when I called the ticket booth from the theater and when she said that my ticket would cost 29,50€ while the others would cost only 8€.
But why is there such a big difference? The problem is, that the 8€ tickets are for the seats on the gallery. And as a "walker" you are able to use these seats, but as a wheelchair-user you aren't. Because there's no elevator which would help you to reach the gallery. And the seats for wheelchair-users are in the most expensive category.
I tried to get in contact with different people (I did that already back in may) and I reached out to Mister Rudolf Kravanja, the president from ÖZIV (please google this if you'd like to know what this organisation is actually doing).
He then reached out to the ticket booth from the theater and they suddenly said that a ticket would cost only 14,75€. He then called the ÖH and they assured to give me back the rest of the money (6,75€ / ticket) and they'll try to get the 8€ tickets also for handicapped students for the following performances.
I'm thankfull for all the people helping me. BUT there are still two questions left:
Why (the hell) do I pay for my assistance now but back in May I didn't?
And why does the theater think that they can seperate me and my assistance? I mean I have an handicapped ID which shows clearly that I need an assistance. And if I need it she/he has to sit next to me or at least directly behind me.
