Schnee; und jetzt? - Snow; what to do now?

Hallo & Welcome back.

Im Moment habe ich eigentlich viele Ideen für Blogposts. Aber ich möchte ein aktuelles Thema aufgreifen.
Wenn ihr meinen Blog schon länger lest wisst ihr vielleicht, dass ich der totale Sommertyp bin. Doch im Moment haben wir nun mal Winter!
Und zu Winter gehört auch Schnee - mein Hassobjekt *haha*.



Nun hat es vergangen Dienstag schon ganz leicht geschneit - es war aber eher so ein Schneenieseln. Ich habe mich total gefreut (ja das tat ich wirklich!) weil es Lychee's erste Begegnung mit Schnee war und es auch so wenig war, dass ich noch problemlos rauskam.
Freitag kam dann aber erst der richtige Schnee. Zum Glück hatte ich meine Assistentin den ganzen Tag eingeteilt und für Abends noch eine meiner Nachbarinnen eingeteilt - irgendwer muss ja mit Lychee rausgehen wenn ich nur mehr bis vor die Haustüre komme weil da noch ein Dach drüber ist.
Nun ja, ich bin halt manchmal doch bis zur Haustüre mitgegangen einfach um zu sehen, wie es Lychee gefällt.
Und ich muss zugeben: im Innenhof hätte ich auch keine Probleme gehabt, mit Lychee spazieren zu gehen - zumindest mit dem E-Rolli. ABER ich hätte dann das ganze Wasser mit in die Wohnung gebracht und das wollte ich vermeiden.

Am Samstag - als der Schnee zumindest bei uns im Innenhof - nur mehr auf der Wiese lag und die Sonne schien wollte ich mit Lychee ans Seeufer fahren und dort ein bisschen mit ihr spazieren gehen.
Doch leider war keine einzige Bushaltestelle befahrbar - auf jeder lag einiges an Schnee. Und auch die Übergänge von einem Gehsteig zum anderen waren mit Rollstuhl nicht überquerbar - einige Gehwege waren gleich gar nicht geräumt!

Mich nervt das. Nicht nur, weil ich Lychee gerne auch mal körperlich auslaste, sondern auch, weil ich somit eigentlich in meinem Innenhof eingesperrt bin, bis der Schnee weg ist! Dabei soll es ja wieder schneien..
Außerdem muss ich irgendwann auch wieder zu Uni - mal sehen ob das klappt!
Wem auch immer diese Gehwege gehören - oder die Bushaltestellen: man hätte das schon anständig räumen können wenn ich sehe, wie gut bei uns der Innenhof geräumt ist - an dieser Stelle: DANKESCHÖN :)



I do have many ideas for new blogposts right now. But today I would like to write about an actual topic.
If you are reading my blog already for some time you may know, that I do love summertime. But right now it is wintertime!
And if it is wintertime it is clear that snow will fall - unfortunately *ahahah*.

The first snow already fell last tuesday - but it was just a little bit and I was happy about it because it was Lychee's first snow and it wasn't a lot so that I could go out with her.
Then on Friday the snow came back to Klagenfurt - but this time for real. I was lucky because I had my assistance with me the whole day and so someone could make the walks with Lychee.
And one of my neighbours is also going for walks with Lychee if I can not do it - I am so lucky to have so many nice people around me!
Well, I could just follow them to the main entrance - because there is still a roof which protected me from all the snow. And I really wanted to see how Lychee likes the snow.
And I have to admit: I could have gone for walks in our courtyard - at least with my electronical wheelchair. BUT I did not do so because then I would have brought all the water into my apartement.

Then on Saturday - when no snow was falling anymore - I wanted to go to the lake with Lychee; just for a long walk in the sun. Unfortunately no bus stop was free from snow. And also the passings from one sidewalk to the other was not free from snow. And some sidewalks have not been clean at all!

This is something that makes me unhappy. Not only because I would love to make long walks with my dog, but also because I am somehow now closed into my courtyard until the snow is gone! And well, as far as I know some more snow should come..
Furthermore I really have to go to university again - I am not sure how this is going to work!
Whoever should have been cleaning all the sidewalks and the bus stops - please do it! I do not see any excuse as even the courtyard of private apartements is free from snow - in this case I would like to say: THANK YOU :)

Christkindlmarkt Klagenfurt - Christmasmarket Klagenfurt

Der 3. Advent ist schon vorbei und einige von euch waren sicher schon mal beim örtlichen Weihnachtsmarkt (bei uns & hier in diesem Blogpost "Christkindlmarkt" genannt) - oder eben auch öfter.
Ich war auch schon einige Male dort und mal abgesehen davon, dass ich ihn - wie jedes Jahr - nicht so berauschend finde und nur für einen Glühwein hingehe, ist er auch heuer wieder nur mäßig barrierefrei.

Man sucht sich ja eigentlich SEINEN Lieblingsstand. Jeder hat einen eigenen Geschmack; und so findet man auch diesen einen Stand wo man den Glühwein (oder eben den Glühmost) am liebsten mag.
Leider hat man diese Auswahl als Rollstuhlfahrer NICHT. Am ganzen Christkindlmarkt in Klagenfurt gibt es eigentlich nur Stände mit Stehtischen; oder welche wo es zwar niedrige Tische gibt aber um zu diesen zu kommen muss man eine Stufe überwinden (oder mehr)!

Ja, leider ist das so. Doch es gibt einen Stand, bei dem ist das anderes. Er hat ein paar Stehtische und eben ein paar wo man sich setzen kann; und zu denen kommt man auch als Rollstuhlfahrer.
Leider ist dieser Stand dann dementsprechend auch immer überfüllt - weil alle Rollstuhlfahrer dorthin gehen.
Als Besitzerin eines Rollstuhls den man auch in die Höhe fahren kann, kann ich mich noch glücklich schätzen - denn so kann ich auch die Stehtische nutzen. Doch auch dann nur bedingt; oft kann ich nicht ganz dazufahren und komme dann erst nicht klar beim Glühwein trinken.
Natürlich bin ich auch mal mit Aktivrollstuhl unterwegs - aber auch mit dem ist es nicht einfach diese meist vorhandenen Stufen am Beginn eines Standes zu überwinden.

Falls ich mich irre und etwas übersehen habe, so sagt es mir doch bitte. Aber leider ist dies schon das dritte Jahr wo mir nur dieser eine Stand auffällt der auch wirklich barrierefrei ist.
Mit Gleichberechtigung & Inklusion hat das leider nichts zu tun!

The third of advent is already over and you may have already been at your local christmasmarket once or twice or more often this year.
I also have been there a few times already and as always I do not like it that much. I just go there to get me some mulled-wine. Because also this year my local christmasmarket is not really barrier-free.

I know that usually everyone is looking for their favourite mulled-wine stall. Everybody has a different taste and so everybody has this one stall where they find their favourite mulled-wine.
Well, as a wheelchair-user you don't have this possibility - at least not in Klagenfurt.
At the whole christmasmarket we have nearly only stalls with standing-tabels; or some which do have tabels where you can sit down but if you want to get there you have to overcome one step (or even more)!

Unfortunately it is like that. But there is one mulled-wine stall which is different. It does have standing-tabels but also some tables where you can sit down and which you can reach even as a wheelchair-user. Well, however as it is the only mulled-wine stall which is barrier-free and where you don't have to overcome a step usually it is totally crowded as every wheelchair-user is going there.
As I do have an electronical wheelchair which can be raised up so that I am taller I can usually use the standing-tables. But sometimes I can not really drive totally close to them and so it is hard for me to drink my mulled-wine.
However sometimes I do go to the christmasmarket with my active wheelchair in which I have to be pushed - and with that it is also kind of hard to overcome the steps.

If I am wrong please tell me. But it is already the third year where this is the only mulled-wine stall which I can reach.
This has nothing to do with equality and Inclusion!

Barrierefreie Wohnung? - Barrier-free appartement?

Hallo & Welcome back.

Mich beschäftigt gerade ein Thema: ich möchte in eine Studentenwohnung ziehen. Leben im Studentenheim ist zwar ganz nett, aber nicht etwas wo ich für längere Zeit bleiben möchte.

Genossenschaften besitzen wohl barrierefreie und rollstuhlgerechte Wohnungen, doch 1. sind diese alle vergeben und 2. nicht in Uninähe und 3. UNBEZAHLBAR.
Außerdem werde ich keine Genossenschaftswohnung bekommen da ich kein fixes Einkommen habe (also Studienbeihilfe und Co. zählt da anscheinend nicht).

Gut dann suche ich eben online. ABER da steht sehr oft barrierefrei dabei NUR weil man zum Beispiel ebenerdig reinkommt ODER weil es einen Lift gibt. Das Bad ist jedoch meistens viel zu klein. Und wenn es groß genug ist ist die Dusche nicht ebenerdig und ich müsste umbauen, doch das darf man nicht in jeder Wohnung.

Ach und die Stadt Klagenfurt besitzt KEINE barrierefreien Wohnungen. Diese Info habe ich zumindest bekommen.

Um ehrlich zu sein bin ich genervt. Jeder andere Student findet - sofern der Preis passt - viel einfacher eine Wohnung. Ob mit oder ohne Treppe ist egal. Warum gibt es nicht dieselben Angebote für Rollstuhlfahrer? Oder andere Behinderte?
Und warum darf man BARRIEREFREI draufschreiben auch wenn nicht barrierefrei drin ist? Das ist doch irreführend.

Weiters find ich es ja auch unglaublich, dass es in Klagenfurt nur EIN Studentenheim gibt, dass annähernd barrierefrei ist. Und selbst da gibt es nur zwei "barrierefreie" Zimmer.

I would like to move from the studentsdormitory into my own appartement. Living in a dorm is nice, but I don't want to stay there for ever.

I don't get appartements from cooperations even though they would have barrier-free once but 1. all of them are taken and 2. they aren't close to the university and 3. too expensive.
And I also don't get them because advancements don't count as an income.

So I thought I could look for an appartement online. BUT sometimes only the entrance is barrier-free but not the bathroom. Okey let's be honest: None of the appartements did have a barrier-free bathroom. Of course I could rebuild it but you aren't allowed to do so in every appartement.

Oh and by the way, the city Klagenfurt has NO barrier-free appartements which they could show me.

To be honest I am a little bugged. Every other student can easily find an appartement if the price is okey. It doesn't matter if the entrance and the bathroom are barrier-free or not. They don't have the same offers for wheelchair-users or other handicapped people.

Also I am incredibly shocked 'cause there is only ONE studentsdormitory in Klagenfufrt which is approximately barrier-free. And they have only two "barrier-free" rooms.

Eurokey?

Hallo & Welcome back.

Wenn du ebenfalls des öfteren öffentliche BehindertenWCs nutzt wird dir der oben genannte Begriff Eurokey bekannt vorkommen. Mit diesem lassen sich die meisten BehindertenWCs ohne Probleme öffnen und deshalb versuchen auch so viele wie möglich so ein Schloss in das BehindertenWC einzubauen damit es auch wirklich nur für das Reinigungspersonal und Menschen mit Behinderung zugänglich ist.

Wie ich jedoch letzte Woche Freitag erfahren musste, geht das ganze auch anders.
Die Seebühne in Klagenfurt wurde ja verkauft. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt gab es bei dem Cafè ein BehindertenWC welches mit dem Eurokey zugänglich war. Der neue Pächter dieses Cafès würde auch gerne wieder dieses WC für Beeinträchtigte zugänglich machen ABER die Stadt hat ihm einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht. Von einem Tag auf den anderen wurde plötzlich das Schloss ausgetauscht. Weder er noch wir Menschen die dieses WC in den meisten Fällen dringend bräuchten kommen in die Toilette rein.

Als ich am Freitag nun vor der Toilette stand war ich einfach nur aufgewühlt und sauer. Ich habe natürlich sofort beim Magistrat angerufen - aber es war ja Freitag und die Menschen dort machen schon um 12:00 Feierabend - es war ja schließlich Freitag!
Ich habe denjenigen die ich trotzdem noch erreichen konnte erklärt, wie kontraproduktiv ihr Verhalten ist. Irgendwann werden wir in Klagenfurt einfach keine beeinträchtigten Touristen mehr haben wenn so gut wie nichts barrierefrei ist obwohl barrierefrei draufsteht.

Und auch die beeinträchtigten Bürger werden sich überlegen, ob sie bleiben wollen oder nicht.
Ich muss an dieser Stelle bemerken, dass ich mich in Klagenfurt richtig wohl fühle. Klagenfurt ist der Ort, wo ich mir eine Zukunft vorstellen könnte wenn ich in Österreich bleiben müsste. Aber eben nur EIGENTLICH. In Bezug auf Barrierefreiheit ist in dieser Stadt wirklich noch einiges zu tun.
Und da frage ich mich, warum man ein Schloss austauscht wenn es doch schon mit dem Eurokey-schloss ausgestattet war? Welchen Sinn ergibt das?

Ich werde am Montag wieder versuchen jemanden zu erreichen. So kann das nun einmal nicht funktionieren. Ich halte euch natürlich am laufenden - vielleicht auf meinem Blog, vielleicht aber auch über Facebook


If you live in Europe and have to use public barrier-free-toilets you may know the word "Eurokey". That's they key with which you can open most of these toilets.

However I had kind of a different experience last Friday. They sold a stage at the lake called the "Seebühne" where you could find also one of these toilets.
I really don't want to translate the whole story so long story short:
The toilet is still there but you can not open it anymore. Someone of the staff in Klagenfurt thought they could just change the eurokey into another one. 

Of course I tried to talk to someone who's responsible for that. But all of them started their weekends already as it was noon and Friday!
I was so angry and explained the men on the telephone that we're going to loose handicapped tourists if we act like that. And also citizens will think about staying here or not.

I have to add something.
I really love Klagenfurt and right now it is the only city were I could imagine living if I had to stay in Austria. (I hope I don't have to stay here). Klagenfurt is beautiful, especially if you live near the lake like I do. But they still have to change so much when it comes to barrier-free areas. Everything should be barrier-free! Even if something is old you can still put some staff there who help you!
But why did they even change the eurokey-lock into another one? I really don't get it.
